Service Description: 

 

Some countries require you to take a PCR test 2- 5 days before the flight departs showing that you do not have an active case of Covid-19 and have a signed ‘fit to fly’/’fit for travel’ certificate to prove this to be the case. NHS tests are not permitted for travel purposes

 

See https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice for the latest Government guidelines. PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test looks for evidence that the virus is currently in your body, by detecting the presence of its RNA in a swab sample from your nose/throat or from a saliva sample test.

 

Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is an alternative method to PCR. LAMP tests are available within the UK. At the time of writing, LAMP tests are not accepted as sufficiently accurate and do not qualify as fit for travel certification.

PCR throat and nasal swab test are more invasive and results have a fast turnaround time of approximately next day by midnight. 99.9% accuracy can be expected with correct swab technique using our PHE accredited UK laboratory.
