What is it?
Cryotherapy is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses extreme cold to target and treat various skin concerns. By applying a controlled burst of cold to specific areas, cryotherapy helps to remove unwanted skin lesions such as skin tags, age spots, warts, and other benign imperfections. The intense cold causes the targeted cells to freeze and break down, allowing the body to naturally eliminate them over time. It is a quick and effective treatment that requires little to no downtime. It is commonly used on the face, neck, hands, and other areas of the body where precision treatment is needed. Many clients choose cryotherapy for its ability to deliver visible results with minimal discomfort and disruption to daily activities.
Procedure
Cleanse and Assess: The treatment area is thoroughly cleansed to remove any makeup, oils, or debris. The skin is assessed to determine the size, depth, and nature of the lesion or concern being treated.
Mark the Treatment Area: The specific spot(s) to be treated are identified and marked if necessary, to ensure precise application of the cryotherapy.
Apply Cryotherapy: A focused stream of cold is applied directly to the lesion using a cryotherapy device. This rapidly freezes the targeted tissue, causing controlled damage to the cells. The application may involve one or more freeze-thaw cycles depending on the type and size of the lesion.
Monitor Reaction: The treated area is observed for an immediate skin reaction, such as whitening or slight swelling, which indicates the treatment has taken effect.
Post-Treatment Care: The area may form a small blister or scab in the days following the procedure, which is a normal part of the healing process. Patients are given aftercare instructions to support healing and avoid irritation, including keeping the area clean and avoiding picking or rubbing the site.
Product administered
We use the CryoIQ® Cryotherapy Pen – a precision medical device that delivers nitrous oxide at -89°C for fast, controlled freezing of unwanted skin lesions. This advanced tool allows us to treat skin tags, age spots, warts, and other benign lesions with exceptional accuracy and minimal discomfort.
Timeline and Expected Results
Results from cryotherapy develop gradually as the treated area goes through a natural healing process. Here's what to expect:
Immediately After Treatment: The treated spot may appear white or frosted for a few minutes, followed by redness and slight swelling. A mild stinging or tingling sensation is common and usually subsides within a few hours.
1–3 Days Post-Treatment: A small blister or scab may form over the area. This is a normal response as the body works to eliminate the frozen tissue.
1–2 Weeks: The scab or blister will dry out and naturally fall off, revealing new, healthy skin underneath. The area may appear slightly pink at first but will gradually return to your normal skin tone.
2–4 Weeks: Most clients see full healing and visible improvement in the treated area. In some cases, a second session may be recommended for more stubborn lesions.
Cryotherapy offers precise and effective results with minimal downtime, making it a convenient option for treating common skin imperfections.
