Pigmentation & Sun Spot Removal

From £159

What is it?

Pigmentation and sun spots develop when excess pigment builds up in certain areas of the skin, leading to dark patches, uneven tone, or areas that look more noticeable over time. This is commonly linked to sun exposure, ageing, hormonal changes, or previous skin inflammation.

For many people, pigmentation isn’t just one dark spot, but an overall unevenness in skin tone that can make the skin look dull or patchy. While pigmentation is harmless, it can be frustrating and difficult to manage with skincare alone.

Our Technology: The Nordlys™ System

At Epicare Health, pigmentation and sun spot treatments are carried out using the Candela Nordlys™ system, which uses light-based technology designed to target uneven pigment and support clearer, more even-looking skin.

The system uses IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) with carefully filtered wavelengths designed to target excess pigment in the skin while protecting the surrounding tissue. Built-in safety features allow treatments to be adjusted based on skin type, pigmentation depth, and recent sun exposure, ensuring a controlled and tailored approach.

Who is This Treatment Suitable For?

This treatment may be suitable for individuals with sun spots, uneven skin tone, freckles, or areas of pigmentation they would like to improve.

Because pigmentation can vary in depth, colour, and cause, a consultation is always carried out first. This allows your practitioner to assess your skin properly and advise whether IPL treatment is appropriate for you, as well as what results you can expect.

The Treatment Process: What to Expect

  1. Consultation & Assessment: Your treatment begins with a consultation to assess your skin, pigmentation pattern, and suitability for IPL treatment. This helps ensure the treatment is tailored safely, and a patch test may be carried out where appropriate.

  2. Preparation: Before treatment, your practitioner will ensure the skin is ready for laser or light-based treatment. This step is designed to support both safety and comfort on the area being treated.

  3. During Treatment: As the applicator passes over the skin, you may feel brief warmth or a light snapping sensation. Sensations vary between individuals, but treatment is generally well tolerated.

  4. After Treatment: Pigmented areas may temporarily darken before gradually fading. Mild redness or warmth is common and usually settles quickly. Aftercare advice will be provided to help protect your skin and support results.

How does it work?

IPL treatment works by delivering gentle pulses of light to the skin. The light is absorbed by areas of excess pigment, which are then gradually broken down by the body over time.

As the skin renews naturally, treated areas can fade and blend more evenly with the surrounding skin. Treatment settings are selected carefully to target pigmentation while keeping the surrounding skin protected.

Expected Results & Timeline

Some people notice changes in pigmentation after their first treatment, particularly as darker areas begin to fade. However, results develop gradually as the skin responds over time.

For best results, a course of treatments is usually recommended, with sessions spaced several weeks apart. The number of sessions needed varies depending on the type and depth of pigmentation and how your skin responds, but this will all be discussed during your consultation.

Note

This service is exclusively for individuals aged 18 and over.

During booking, only a £30 deposit is required for the initial consultation, and patch test where applicable, which will be deducted from the total treatment cost. The remaining payment will be collected at a later stage.
