- Full Lab Report (2-5 working days)
£69 < Back Full Lab Report (2-5 working days) £69 Description: What can I expect from this Pregnancy Test - Beta HCG? This is a quantitative Beta HCG test that can identify whether you are pregnant or not. It can also be used to monitor how your pregnancy is progressing on a weekly basis. This test is more sensitive than a urine pregnancy test allowing you to confirm pregnancy earlier. What is the difference between the blood test and the standard urine test? Whilst both tests measure beta HCG levels, studies have shown that the blood test allows for earlier detection of pregnancy as it is more sensitive. Typically, the urine test is best done 1 week after a missed period as before this time the accuracy is limited. There is also a higher chance of a false positive result. The added benefit of this beta HCG blood test (quantitative) is that it is able to tell you how far along the pregnancy is. Repeated testing can tell you if the pregnancy is progressing at the expected level and potentially identify issues. What potential issues can this test identify? If the level of HCG is low or the trend is declining then this can be an indication of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. However, this is not diagnostic and would require a detailed review with your doctor. If the level of HCG is high or the trend is increasing at a rate faster than expected then this can be an indication of multiple pregnancy (twins etc) or Molar pregnancy. However, this is not diagnostic and would require a detailed review with your doctor. What else can this beta HCG blood test be used for? Fertility clinics can use HCG injections to help increase the chances of IVF or IUI being successful. Therefore, this test can also be used to monitor your levels if you are going through this process. This test will provide you with a full lab report to help you interpret the results of your test. Turnaround times: 2-5 Working Days Note: This service is only available to the age of 13 and above. During booking, only a £30 deposit is required , which will be deducted from the total cost. - Typhoid
£35 per dose < Back Typhoid £35 per dose Typhoid Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection that can spread throughout the body, affecting many organs. Without prompt treatment, it can cause serious complications and can be fatal. It's caused by a bacterium called Salmonella typhi, which is related to the bacteria that cause salmonella food poisoning . Typhoid fever is highly contagious. An infected person can pass the bacteria out of their body in their poo or, less commonly, in their pee. If someone else eats food or drinks water that's been contaminated with a small amount of infected poo or pee, they can become infected with the bacteria and develop typhoid fever. The main symptoms of typhoid fever are: a persistent high temperature that gradually increases each day headache general aches and pains extreme tiredness (fatigue) cough constipation As the infection progresses, you may lose your appetite, feel sick, and have a tummy ache and diarrhoea . Some people may develop a rash. If typhoid fever isn't treated, the symptoms will continue to get worse over the following weeks and the risk of developing potentially fatal complications will increase. What Vaccines are available? Vaccination is recommended for travellers whose planned activities put them at higher risk of typhoid infection in areas where sanitation and food hygiene are likely to be poor. Vaccinations currently available only protect against typhoid and not paratyphoid infection. Both oral and injectable vaccines are available. Vaccine Schedules Adults and children from 2 years Single dose Protection duration: Booster offered in 3 year intervals if at continued risk. How far in advance do I need to book my vaccine for my trip? Ideally, 7-10 before but you can have the vaccine last up to the day before traveling. Prevention The risk of acquiring typhoid or paratyphoid can be reduced by ensuring good personal hygiene and following advice on the prevention of food and water-borne diseases. Need other vaccines? - Allergy and Intolerance Tests
£129 < Back Fructose Intolerance Breath Test (IBTF) £129 Description What is it? A fructose intolerance breath test is a non-invasive test used to diagnose fructose malabsorption, a condition where the body has difficulty absorbing fructose, a type of sugar found in fruits, some vegetables, and sweetened foods. Here's how a fructose intolerance breath test works: Baseline Breath Sample: You'll blow into a machine or a special balloon to collect a breath sample. This establishes your baseline hydrogen levels. Fructose Drink: You'll then be given a drink containing a specific amount of fructose. Breath Samples: After consuming the drink, you'll provide additional breath samples at regular intervals, typically over two to three hours. Hydrogen Measurement: The breath samples are analyzed for the presence of hydrogen gas. Normally, little to no hydrogen is produced in the small intestine. However, if you have fructose malabsorption, bacteria in your large intestine will ferment the unabsorbed fructose, producing hydrogen gas, which is then released in your breath. Estimated turnaround times: 2-5 Working Days Note: This service is only available to the age of 13 and above. During booking, only a £30 deposit is required , which will be deducted from the total cost. The remaining payment will be collected at a later stage. - Traveller's Diarrhoea
< Back Traveller's Diarrhoea Condition Explained Traveler's diarrhea is a digestive tract disorder that commonly causes loose stools and stomach cramps. It's caused by eating or drinking contaminated food and water. Fortunately, traveler's diarrhea usually isn't serious in most cases — it's just unpleasant. Symptoms Traveler's diarrhea may begin suddenly during your trip or shortly after you return home. Most people improve within 1 to 2 days without treatment and recover completely within a week. However, you can have multiple episodes of traveler's diarrhea during one trip. The most common symptoms of traveler's diarrhea are: Suddenly passing three or more looser watery stools a day. An urgent need to pass stool. Stomach cramps. Nausea. Vomiting. Fever. Sometimes, people experience moderate to severe dehydration, ongoing vomiting, a high fever, bloody stools, or severe pain in the belly or rectum. If you or your child experiences any of these symptoms or if the diarrhea lasts longer than a few days, it's time to see a healthcare professional. Treatments Medication: Azithromycin 500mg Tablets To treat and reduce the symptoms of travellers diarrhoea. Medication: Rifaximin 200mg tablets To treat and reduce symptoms of the gastro-intestinal tract infections that lead to diarrhoea in patients. Watch what you eat The general rule of thumb when traveling to another country is this: Boil it, cook it, peel it or forget it. But it's still possible to get sick even if you follow these rules. Other tips that may help decrease your risk of getting sick include: Don't consume food from street vendors. Don't consume unpasteurized milk and dairy products, including ice cream. Don't eat raw or undercooked meat, fish and shellfish. Don't eat moist food at room temperature, such as sauces and buffet offerings. Eat foods that are well cooked and served hot. Stick to fruits and vegetables that you can peel yourself, such as bananas, oranges and avocados. Stay away from salads and from fruits you can't peel, such as grapes and berries. Be aware that alcohol in a drink won't keep you safe from contaminated water or ice. Don't drink the water When visiting high-risk areas, keep the following tips in mind: Don't drink unsterilized water — from tap, well or stream. If you need to consume local water, boil it for three minutes. Let the water cool naturally and store it in a clean covered container. Don't use locally made ice cubes or drink mixed fruit juices made with tap water. Beware of sliced fruit that may have been washed in contaminated water. Use bottled or boiled water to mix baby formula. Order hot beverages, such as coffee or tea, and make sure they're steaming hot. Feel free to drink canned or bottled drinks in their original containers — including water, carbonated beverages, beer or wine — as long as you break the seals on the containers yourself. Wipe off any can or bottle before drinking or pouring. Use bottled water to brush your teeth. Don't swim in water that may be contaminated. Keep your mouth closed while showering. If it's not possible to buy bottled water or boil your water, bring some means to purify water. Consider a water-filter pump with a microstrainer filter that can filter out small microorganisms. You also can chemically disinfect water with iodine or chlorine. Iodine tends to be more effective, but is best reserved for short trips, as too much iodine can be harmful to your system. You can purchase water-disinfecting tablets containing chlorine, iodine tablets or crystals, or other disinfecting agents at camping stores and pharmacies. Be sure to follow the directions on the package.

- Meningitis ACWY
£55 per dose < Back Meningitis ACWY £55 per dose Meningitis ACWY Meningococcal disease is a rare, but potentially devastating infection. It is caused by the bacteria Neisseria meningitis of which there are 6 disease-causing strains called serogroups (A, B, C, W, Y and X). Approximately 10 percent of the general population of the UK is thought to carry N. meningitis in the lining of the nose and throat. Spread between individuals occurs through coughing, sneezing, kissing, or during close contact with a carrier. Carriers do not have symptoms but can develop disease when bacteria invade the bloodstream from the nasopharynx (area at the back of the nose and throat). Invasive disease is a rare but serious outcome usually presenting as septicemia (blood poisoning) or meningitis (infection of the lining of the brain). Meningitis is an infection of the protective membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord (meninges). It can affect anyone but is most common in babies, young children, teenagers, and young adults. Meningitis can be very serious if not treated quickly. It can cause life-threatening blood poisoning ( sepsis ) and result in permanent damage to the brain or nerves. Symptoms of meningitis develop suddenly and can include: a high temperature (fever) being sick a headache a rash that does not fade when a glass is rolled over it (but a rash will not always develop) a stiff neck a dislike of bright lights drowsiness or unresponsiveness seizures (fits) These symptoms can appear in any order. You do not always get all the symptoms. What Vaccines are available?
