Chemical Peel

From £99

What is it?

A chemical peel is a cosmetic procedure that involves applying an acidic solution to the skin to remove the top layers. This reveals a newer, smoother layer of skin underneath. Chemical peels improve skin tone, texture, and radiance by lowering skin pH to promote exfoliation, collagen synthesis, and cell turnover. They enhance home care penetration and rejuvenate the skin through targeted cell apoptosis. Cell turnover smooths and strengthens the skin by promoting continuous healthy cell renewal, occurring in about 28 days for young skin and 50–60 days for aging skin.

Acids in Peels:

  • Lactic Acid (AHA): Biosynthesized for exfoliation, collagen stimulation, and improved skin texture.

  • Salicylic Acid (BHA): Oil-soluble, unclogs pores, controls acne, and reduces inflammation.

  • Retinol: Boosts collagen, enhances cell turnover, normalizes keratinization, and targets fine lines, discoloration, and blemishes.

  • Hydrogen Peroxide: Kills bacteria, unclogs pores, and treats skin post-extraction

Procedure

  1. Preparation: The skin is cleansed to remove oils and impurities.

  2. Application: A chemical solution (like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or trichloroacetic acid) is applied to the skin.

  3. Mask Application: A soothing mask is applied to calm the skin after the chemical solution.

  4. Peel Application: The chemical peel solution is applied directly to the skin to initiate the exfoliation process.

  5. Neutralising solution: A neutralization solution is applied to neutralize the chemical peel and balance the skin’s pH.

  6. Self-neutralising peel: A detoxifying treatment is applied to help clear and purify the skin.

  7. Infuse: A brightening accelerator is applied to enhance the smoothing and lifting effects, while providing powerful skin brightening and antioxidants.

  8. Reaction: The chemical solution causes the outer layers of the skin to exfoliate and peel off.

  9. Peeling Process: The skin begins to peel within a few days, revealing smoother, fresher skin underneath.

  10. Healing: The skin may be red or irritated initially, but it typically heals within a week or so, depending on the depth of the peel.

Chemical peels can be categorized into three types: superficial, medium, and deep, based on how deeply the solution penetrates the skin.
