What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal is an advanced treatment designed to achieve long-term reduction of unwanted hair, helping skin feel smoother, clearer, and easier to maintain over time.
Using carefully controlled light energy, the treatment targets hair at the follicle to reduce regrowth progressively. With each session, hair typically becomes finer, lighter, and slower to return, making laser hair removal a long-term alternative to shaving, waxing, or threading.
At Epicare Health, treatments are performed using the Candela Nordlys™ system, a medical-grade platform widely used in dermatology clinics. Treatments are carefully tailored to your skin type and hair characteristics, with integrated cooling and safety controls designed to manage discomfort while maintaining effective results.
Our Technology: The Nordlys™ System
We use the Candela Nordlys™ system, which features Selective Waveband Technology (SWT). Unlike standard IPL devices, this technology filters light to deliver only the most beneficial wavelengths for hair reduction — improving safety, comfort, and results.
Why Nordlys™ stands out:
Advanced light technology used in clinical dermatology
Built-in skin-type and suntan safety controls
Customised settings for different hair types and skin tones
Integrated cooling for enhanced comfort
This allows us to tailor every treatment to you, ensuring effective hair reduction while respecting your skin’s individual needs.
The Laser Hair Removal Process: What to Expect
Consultation & Assessment: Your treatment begins with a consultation to assess your skin type, hair characteristics, and suitability. This helps us tailor the treatment safely, and a patch test may be carried out where appropriate.
Preparation: The area should be shaved before your appointment. Waxing, plucking, or threading should be avoided beforehand, as the hair root needs to be present for the laser to work effectively.
During Treatment: You may feel brief warmth or a light snapping sensation as the applicator passes over the skin. Sensations vary by area and individual, and integrated cooling helps manage discomfort.
After Treatment: Mild redness or a slightly bumpy appearance around the follicles is common and usually settles quickly. There is no significant downtime, and aftercare advice will be provided.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser Hair Removal works by delivering pulses of light that gently heat the hair follicle while protecting the surrounding skin. This process, known as selective photothermolysis, allows the hair follicle to be targeted with precision.
Hair grows in cycles, and laser treatment is most effective during the active growth phase. Because not all hairs are in this phase at the same time, a course of treatments is needed to achieve the best results.
Note
This service is exclusively for individuals aged 18 and over.
During booking, only a £30 deposit is required for the initial consultation, and patch test where applicable, which will be deducted from the total treatment cost. The remaining payment will be collected at a later stage.
